 The third Schoolchildren for Children Three Peaks Challenge will take place in June.
The aim is to climb and travel between the highest mountains of Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours. The schedule is tight but achievable.
The group will travel to Fort William to arrive late afternoon normally on a Thursday 10th. In Fort William you can admire the stunning local scenery as well as enjoying a pleasant relaxing team meal before the event.
The ascent of Ben Nevis then start on a Friday afternoon, weather permitting, with the climb lasting approximately 5 hours.
The minimum realistic drive time between Ben Nevis and Scafell is 6 hours where the ascent should take approximately 4 hours during the early hours of Saturday morning. The 5 hours drive from Scafell to Snowdon normally has us arriving around midday culminating with the final ascent which takes approximately 4 hours.
These timings for the Challenge are estimated, realistic yet very achievable even for non-experienced hill walkers and climbers. Obviously allowances need to be made for weather conditions and traffic problems.
Having completed the Challenge, the group stays overnight in a hotel in Llanberis enjoying a celebratory team meal before dispersing on Sunday morning.
Participants in the Challenge need to be well prepared and in good physical shape though no previous climbing experience is essential.
