- You will have already
registered on-line.
- Your head may well
have notified the parents that the school
will be participating in the Schoolchildren
for Children day on the last Friday in
September using the letter provided on
the website.
- The school contact
will probably have delivered a school
assembly to the pupils making them aware
of Schoolchildren for Children at the
beginning of the autumn term.
- Pupils should have
been given a sponsor form before the event.
This can be downloaded from the website.
- An area on site needs
to be identified where the event can take
place so that the pupils can gauge the
distance that they travel. Ideally this
could be approximately 400 - 800 metres.
- It may be helpful to
assemble the pupils together in the school
hall.
- Pupils should be encouraged to walk, jog or run a minimum of a mile at a pace at which they feel comfortable or any other suitable activity (See suggested activities).
- Allow the pupils to
leave the hall in age groups, starting
with the younger pupils, so that there
is no mad stampede at the start. Form
teachers can accompany their classes to
ensure an orderly exit.
- The pupils should begin
as soon as they arrive at the start so
that there is no frantic jostling.
- Pupils should be encouraged
to walk, jog or run a minimum of a mile
in the course of an hour at a pace at
which they feel comfortable.
- After the event pupils
will need to complete the sponsor form
indicating the distance that they have
covered.
- Pupils should hand
in their pound together with their sponsor
form to the person designated by the school.
- Half the money should
be kept by the school for the purchase
of extra curricular equipment and half
sent to Schoolchildren for Children after
all the monies have been collected.
